We not only write and produce all the ads for the Rare Tea Company, we also designed their entire range of packaging. I founded Duckworth, Finn, Grubb, Waters with Gary (Duckworth), Mickey(Finn) and Paul (Grubb), 3 of the brightest, nicest men I've ever met. We started the agency to focus on advertising rather than business as we'd all become a bit jaded with agencies selling out. We were the only agency to launch with a TV ad and we all worked best for big, blue-chip brands. We started with no business and quickly won the London Fire Brigade, Duckhams oil and then became the only non international agency to handle Pizza Hut. We were a top twenty London agency for 18 years. We launched the most succesfull car company ever in the UK, we were the only agency to win an effectiveness Grand Prix for the Government and the people who worked there were absolutely awesome. I wish I still worked with them all now but pretty much everyone went on to have incredible careers in agencies all over the world. In the end Mathew Freud bought the company. Seven fabulous years working for Dave Trott and Gordon Smith. They taught me everything I know about advertising. (Do brilliant work and everything else doesn’t matter).
