In this position I am responsible for managing a team of arborists in carrying out routine tree cutting around high voltage over head power lines. My duties begin with surveying work that needs to be carried out, making contact with land owners and organizing the work to be completed. As a team, the work is then undertaken with the purpose of removing and pruning trees in proximity to the power lines in order to maintain a safe clearance from the electricity conductors and ensure there is no interference from nearby trees in the future.

In this role, I am responsible for the training and instructing of students, undertaking a level 2 diploma in forestry and arboriculture. In my day to day duties, I deliver lessons on chainsaw operations, climbing techniques, ground and worksite operations, woodland management and conservation, as well as work experience and business practice. Along with this vital part of the job I am responsible for initial assessments of students, to determine their needs and requirements to succeed, as well as delivering maths and English classes to improve academic knowledge. Working closely with other lecturers and support staff, I produce lesson plans and risk assessments for tasks that students undertake, that are structured around any individual support or needs students may have.

Perform routine ground works including, large scale ground clearances, felling and ground operated aerial pruning with the use of insulated pruning rods. As well as this I proccessed any arisings that may have been produced from ground works or aerial tree cutting, by way of chipping and stacking. I also had the duty of training new starters to the team and overlooking their development and progression.

General garden maintenance and soft and hard landscaping, including, hedge cutting, tree work, grass cutting, pruning, livestock fencing, garden fencing, decking and patios.
