I have been responsible for creating the architecture for a handful of large Government IT systems, and I am also responsible for architectural governance / assurance of other solutions delivered to the client. Specific skill areas include networks, data transformation, business intelligence, Oracle EBS and enterprise shared services (Finance, Accounting, HR, Payroll, Procurement etc). Working under SC security clearance within EDS Defence Limited, I worked within a small team of solution architects to create a solution for a secure government bid. This involved the creation of a complex solution architecture, working with numerous vendors and subcontractors, and also involved me filing a patent application for a component of the end-to-end solution. I was responsible for the creation of high-level solution architectures for several contract management and payment systems at Jobcentre Plus (initially Employment Service). The systems were responsible for hundreds of millions of pounds of payments to third-party companies providing services to Jobcentre Plus for citizen training and job brokering.

Reporting to the MedAS IT Director, I was responsible for the company IS/IT strategy. I was also deeply involved in the company's main project of transforming BBC Finance and implementing SAP R/3 for the BBC, working with PwC. I was a regular presenter to the MedAS board of directors.

Working within the EDS Electronic Business Team, I worked as a programmer and systems engineer for large-scale data transformation solutions on UNIX and VME systems. My role later included project management and then consultancy. I started my IT career at SD-Scicon in Cheadle, working within their EDI division. SD-Scicon was eventually bought by EDS. My role included programming in C, Pascal and COBOL, amongst various other activities for the distribution of EDI software and its configuration.
