Recently manage the $22 million automation project to migrate Rosemount RS3 to DeltaV for an existing biotech facility in the Boston area. This large scale project has significant constraints to minimize the downtime of the facility during the cut-over. STRATEGIC PLANNING Facilitated numerous strategic planning efforts at pharmaceutical companies, colleges, volunteer organizations, application developers, and engineering companies. Recently led a vendor company through a planning workshop. Identified key future growth technologies and those technologies in transition. Produced a emerging technology report.TRAINING Developed and taught training classes on “Project Management for Automation Professionals” and "Hands on Automation Project Mangement". Instructed and coordinated numerous internal training classes including automation project management and process control theory. His experience includes requirements generation, systems design, testing, successful start-up, and process optimization. It covers a broad range of applications on a variety of hardware platforms and control systems (PLCs, DCSs, SCADA, and SIS).PROJECTS1) A large project was delivering a new biotechnology facility, but had significant process automation cost issues. Reorganized and managed automation team efforts. Led a risk assessment process and identify $6 million in automation cost savings. The automation portion was never on critical path and beat the revised cost estimate.2) A large project to renovate an existing plant had to be delivered in less than 18 months. Quickly assembled and managed a team of over 100 automation professionals to successfully deliver the automation system on schedule. 3) A large project was delivering a new biotechnology facility, but was six months behind schedule. Automation delivery was the bottleneck. Ramped-up the resources to over 150 professionals and managed the project to get automation off the critical path within 6 months.
