PROJECT MANAGEMENT Managed numerous large automation projects. Recently manage the $22 million automation project to migrate Rosemount RS3 to DeltaV for an existing biotech facility in the Boston area. This large scale project has significant constraints to minimize the downtime of the facility during the cut-over. STRATEGIC PLANNING Facilitated numerous strategic planning efforts at pharmaceutical companies, colleges, volunteer organizations, application developers, and engineering companies. Recently led a vendor company through a planning workshop. Identified key future growth technologies and those technologies in transition. Produced a emerging technology report.TRAINING Developed and taught training classes on “Project Management for Automation Professionals” and "Hands on Automation Project Mangement". Taught the courses numerous times.

BENCHMARKING Conducted annual automation benchmark studies for the 25 members of the Pharmaceutical Automation Roundtable. Over 200 pharmaceutical and biotech facilities are now included in the study (2008-2018). These automation benchmark studies and analysis have captured best practices on project management, Manufacturing Execution Systems, data aggregation, optimum staff level and organization, emerging automation technologies, Industry 4.0 & Factory of the Future, project cost & issues, tangible benefits of automation, production management perception of automation, and automation professionals view of their discipline. Summary reports were produced with identified best practices for participants.

Automation delivery was the bottleneck. Ramped-up the resources to over 150 professionals and managed the project to get automation off the critical path within 6 months.
