I've always been a writer. But I expended a lot of time, incurred a lot of debt, and put in varying degrees of effort to go to law school, so I figured I should at least give the whole lawyering thing a shot. I gave it a shot for 16 years. That was probably about 13 years too many. Notwithstanding a successful career as a commercial litigation attorney here in Chicago, I could no longer deny who I was, so I left my practice and began openly writing full-time in 2009. Since then, I've written over 13,000 pages of website copy, blog posts, articles, and other marketing collateral for law firms, medical practices, and small business clients across the country. I also served as Deputy Director of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, where I launched the Commission’s blog and wrote monthly columns for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.I'm a long-time and active resident of Chicago’s Roscoe Village neighborhood where I live with my wife and the unwanted belongings of my two adult daughters. I was also fortunate to have appeared on and won an episode of Jeopardy!
