I led the engineering teams that are building the future of Workflow Automation at Slack. I was responsible for 17 individuals split across Backend (Hacklang, Golang) and Frontend (React) specialization, as well as their Engineering Manager.Since joining Slack I have more than doubled the size of my engineering organization - managing several re-orgs and the associated change management processes, launched Workflow Builder to all Slack customers, added significant new features post-launch, made numerous improvements to supporting Slack-wide features and further grew the impact of my teams on the wider strategy of Slack's Developer Platform.

I managed the Developer Experience Tools team. Our responsibility was for the UI and underlying services that power the self-service adoption of our suite of tools for Quality Automation (functional testing for web and native, client performance testing, web service performance testing) and rich visualized data from the tests.Designed and implemented robust on-call support program with triaging, prioritization and utilizing automation to reduce human workload while on-call.Managed and automated mass-migration between legacy Jenkins CI system to internal CI system for 100+ projects.Directly managed 6 engineers, dotted line relationship to a further 5, and supported 3 engineering managers.

Initially worked on the App Platform team as a core contributor to the Electrode platform in React.js, Hapi.js and nodeJS. Provided documentation, support and training in addition to contributing substantial source code.Later moved to the Developer Experience Tools team contributing to CI/CD infrastructure, automation and bots/integrations using node.js, bash, Jenkins, and other scripting/tooling.

Having inherited the m.zappos.com site that is offered to customers browsing from their smartphones, I began the process of identifying, designing and implementing improvements to make the experience better.

Application Security Design Consultation, Web Application Pen Testing, Architecture Reviews, Developer Education.I had the opportunity to work on the Information Security team, bringing my development background to the role and quickly learning how to apply this knowledge to incorporate Security best practices and protect the company from shipping vulnerable applications.I was a strong contributor in establishing an efficient Application Security Program and performed a variety of day-to-day and longer term tasks to support this program and actively vet and test the code being produced across the company.

Residing in Front End Zappos (FEZ), I was part of the Product Presentation / User Generated Content team where I spent my days striving to make the Product Pages (and related properties) on Zappos.com load faster than the blink of an eye, while still looking appealing and working in the way you'd most desire as a visitor.My primary focus was on JavaScript, with a considerable amount of HTML5, CSS and Freemarker templating.

I worked in the International Sports side of ESPN Digital Media's Mobile Web properties, which meant I was the primary developer for Soccer, Cricket, Rugby and similar sports.I was also heavily involved in the development of the ESPN Scorecenter iPhone application, which remained the #1 free sports application in the App Store for more than 6 months after it was released.

I worked on a wide range of sites under Microsoft's UK subsidiary and created new pages and mini-sites, edited existing content and created tools to support the operation of Microsoft's UK sites. A very varied role, I worked with templates, created a Vista widget, an application in C# and used JavaScript to tackle some reporting/statistical problems.
