Co-Founder, CeoBenevets, Llc Dec 2011 - Dec 2018BeneVets, LLC, provides technology and financial solutions to those who serve veterans.Veterans who were wounded or injured while on active duty may file a claim for disability compensation benefits with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (the VA). Currently, only about 5% of submitted claims are “ready to rate”, i.e., accurate, complete, and with all required documentation. Returned claims greatly delay the claims review and adjudication process and increase manpower costs. And the backlog of disability claims filed is increasing, adding to an already overloaded VA system that is burdened by complex laws. State agencies and veteran service organizations (VSO) provide thousands of helpful agents nationwide, but many of these groups have reached capacity in the face of the ever-increasing demands to assist veterans applying for disability compensation benefits. These groups are also steadily losing qualified people; because the claims-filing process is as complicated as the tax code, it takes 3 to 5 years to train new qualified agents. The BeneVets system directly addresses these problems by improving the accuracy of applications and ensuring that supporting information is presented in a clear and consistent manner, making claims “ready to rate.” A significantly lowered claims error rate will result in higher first-time approval rates, which in turn will positively impact veterans and their families by speeding up the claims adjudication process, increasing the claims approval rate, and increasing the per-claim award. The BeneVets system will ensure that the veteran is getting the best possible advocate. Agencies will be able to serve many more veterans within current human resource levels. The system will not replace an agency’s veterans service representatives, but rather will allow them to concentrate on difficult cases and on preparing appeals.
