I am the Associate Director for Strategic Integration overseeing Strategy, Technology and Formulation for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Prior to being appointed to the role of Associate Director in August 2016, I was the Director of Astronomy, Physics and Space Technology (APST), where I oversaw a $350 million portfolio comprised of more than 20 program offices, project implementation teams, and ongoing domestic and international scientific mission operations projects. I assumed the position of Deputy Director of APST after several years as Manager of the Advanced Optical Systems Program. Previously, I led the build, launch and operations of the highly successful Spitzer Space Telescope, the fourth and last in the series of NASA’s orbiting Great Observatories, which launched in 2003. I also led the team that built and tested the Wide Field and Planetary Camera-II, which when installed in the Hubble Space Telescope, corrected the spherical aberration and yielded some of the most astonishing images of the universe humankind has ever seen.Prior to joining the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 1989, I launched a software consulting firm, which followed on my first professional experience at IBM, also in aerospace and engineering. Outside of work, I enjoy mentoring, reading, golf, hiking and biking.
