I'm a serial entrepreneur, which, depending on your politics, may be worse than a serial killer. I believe in capitalism and small business, but not mega-corporations and the political kleptocracy that often travels with them globally. Born and raised initially in Europe but unabashedly American, I'll continue to trust Western liberalism, especially when moderated with a light salting of self-interested common sense. I value ethics above all; I'll happily and aggressively break conventions, but refuse to break promises, laws, or implied social compacts (I'm looking at you, Uber). Most importantly, I'm exceptionally proud of my children Matthew and Sarah, who've gone on to start their own successful ventures and become loving parents and colleagues, and it's through them and their friends that I have confidence that the problems we see globally will not conquer us. Kids are smart, times are changing, and new rules apply. They'll figure it out. Meanwhile, I believe we should all enjoy our work and families and daily life, and smile, laugh, and treat people well -- because anything less than that just isn't worth it.
