Objective: Strengthen a cradle-to-career partnership of over 300 organizations focused on changing systems and getting better results for the children of Milwaukee.Major Accomplishments:- Served as Interim Executive Director; chose not to apply for full-time role.- Worked with major local foundations to build out a Funders Collaborative focused on stimulating innovation among partners and scaling best practices. Developed systems for deepening partner commitments to systems-change as well as influencing how private funding is directed. Oversaw the investment of over $3M in private funding from 2016-2019.- Collaborated with cross-sector partners to lead the Milwaukee Civic Action Team in responses to COVID-19. This initiative effectively coordinated collective impact in ECE, K12 education, mental and physical health, shelter, food, and economic recovery.- Improved partnership operations related to budgeting and finance, resource development human resources, performance measurement, and communications.- Led several successful grant proposals (including multiple $1M+ projects) for national and local funding to support systems-change, early literacy, K12 education, and early childhood education.- Designed the partnership's strategies for spreading continuous improvement practices among Milwaukee public and nonprofit organizations.- Collaborated with K12 schools on shifting public resources and changing institutional policies to adopt improved early literacy practices.- Led strategic planning for the partnership including prioritization of indicators, public policy agenda, deepening community engagement, and developing scorecards to track partnership impact.- Grew backbone team from 5.0 FTE to 12.0 FTE with 10 direct and indirect reports.- Led plans to strengthen the partnership's collective impact, resulting in being named a Systems-Change Community by StriveTogether following a rigorous third-party assessment of results and systems-level impact.

Objective: Support for-profit corporations in the development of innovative business strategies that use quality management to improve social and environmental business practices.Major Accomplishments:- Led the Operations Team for ASQ's 2014 application for the Wisconsin Forward Award (state-level Baldridge Award). Worked with organizational leadership and key staff to develop new, more efficient work systems and operational strategies. These efforts resulted in ASQ doubling its points on the Operations section of their application compared to its previous application. As a result, ASQ was awarded the Wisconsin Forward Award for the first time.- As a one-person team, built out ASQ's Social Responsibility Program by doubling its publications volume, working with subject matter experts from Fortune 100 corporations to create new trainings and standards, and integrating social responsibility and sustainability into ASQ's digital strategies, events, and organizational priorities.- Worked with ASQ member-leaders to create a Social Responsibility Technical Community to provide permanent organizational capacity for supporting social responsibility efforts.- Asked by ASQ's Chief Executive Officer to expand my portfolio of work to include the International Team Excellence Awards. Worked in my final year at ASQ to develop new program offerings and build out the organization's capacity to support Team Excellence trainings, publications, and offerings.

Objective: Lead public policy initiatives aimed at reducing poverty.Major Accomplishments: - Promoted from Policy Analyst to Policy & Research Division Manager (newly created position) within first year. Led a team of five policy analysts and project managers.- Led the planning and execution for the agency's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding (over $15 million). Funding sources included Head Start, Weatherization, and Community Services Block Grant and spanned six agency programs and 14 community partners. Designed new projects in partnership with community partners to meet the job creation and economic development objectives of the Recovery Act. Projects resulted in stimulating development in low-income zip codes and extensive positive press coverage. Received the 2010 WI Governor's Award for Community Action and recognition from the Under Secretary of Dept. of Health and Human Services for this work.- Oversaw the agency's public policy efforts including hosting bi-annual public hearings on important community issues, publishing quarterly policy papers, and educating local, state, and federal elected officials on policy reduction efforts in Milwaukee County. Issues included black male joblessness, pay-day lending, neighborhood development, early childhood education, and job creation. Spoke at countless public hearings and 1:1 meetings with public officials. - Supervised annual community needs assessments (2009-2012) including phone surveys, door-to-door surveys, stakeholder focus groups, and analyzing primary data as well as communicating results to target audiences (elected officials, partners, and defined segments of the community).- Led the creation of agency-wide and department specific Balanced Scorecards.- Oversaw five successful public and private grant applications to support SDC's Policy & Research Division's work ranging from $50,000 to $3.38 million.

Objective: Assist with the instruction of graduate level economics and statistics courses.Major Accomplishments:- Lead instructor for a 1-credit graduate-level course on the statistical software program Stata. Class enrollment included 18 graduate students.- Taught review sessions and provided 1:1 instruction to 21 graduate students in micro-economics and statistics courses for public policy (2007-08).- Taught review sessions, provided 1:1 instruction, and graded exams and papers for over 50 undergraduate students in political science courses (2006-08).

Objective: Lead a team of 10 Corps Members in direct service projects across the southeastern region of the United States.Major Accomplishments:- Ran a volunteer site in Gulfport, MS and deployed over 150 volunteers to support community members during the first 12 months following Hurricane Katrina.- Led a team in cleaning out 15 properties in the month following Hurricane Rita in Vermilion Parish, LA.- Supported a community kitchen in the Lower Ninth Ward over a two month period within a year of Hurricane Katrina.- Led the building of over eight miles of hiking trails at the Walls of Jericho site in Franklin County, TN.- Supported a team of nine 18-24 year olds during a year of professional and personal development through team building, 1:1 coaching, and leadership development.

Objective: Help establish and grow a new Habitat affiliate in Howard County, MD.Major Accomplishments:- Led a five year strategic planning process focused on capacity building, operational efficiencies, resource development, and expanding the impact of the affiliate in the community. Plan was fully adopted and executed by the board of directors.- Built organizational capacity through 40% reduction in organizational expenditures due to financial efficiencies, created new systems for documenting board activities, and improved the affiliate's digital and print communications.- Established a volunteer development program that resulted in creating five youth volunteer groups at area high schools, a 50% increase in affiliate volunteers, and processes and procedures for volunteer outreach and onboarding.
