The Mid-America Prevention Technology Transfer Center (Mid-America PTTC) is designed to serve as a prevention catalyst, empowering individuals and fostering partnerships to promote safe, healthy, and drug-free communities across Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. Our services are evidence-based, culturally competent, and locally focused. We provide intensive technical assistance to support organizations' and systems' efforts to implement evidence-based prevention strategies. The Mid-America PTTC also forms partnerships with local and regional stakeholders to ensure that the training needs of the region are identified and met.The Mid-America PTTC goals are:• Accelerate the adoption and implementation of evidence-based and promising substance misuse prevention strategies.• Heighten the awareness, knowledge, and skills of the workforce that addresses substance misuse prevention. • Foster regional and national alliances among culturally diverse practitioners, researchers, policymakers, funders, and the local communities.

Provides targeted and intensive training and technical assistance (T/TA) to SAMHSA’s First Responders – Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act grantees. A specific focus on training first responders in opioid overdose education and naloxone distribution. A secondary focus on pre-arrest diversion and referral to treatment models. Training and technical assistance includes on site trainings, webinars, and consultations.

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of statewide educational and professional development opportunities (advisory meetings, symposiums, training workshops, webinars, and on-line meetings) intended to advance alcohol, other drug, and violence prevention efforts within Illinois institutions of higher education. Provide technical assistance (needs assessment, program planning, program implementation, program assessment/evaluation, policy development, meeting federal and state mandates, campus/community coalition development) to Illinois 2- and 4- year institutions of higher education. Key Contributions/Accomplishments • Planned, coordinated, and presented the largest I.H.E.C. symposium; “The Role of Social Media in Campus AOD Prevention.” • Development of a toolkit for parent based interventions for college bound freshmen. Used an innovative 5 part educational whiteboard video series to deliver the content to Illinois institutions of higher education. • Continue to engage campus law enforcement in alcohol and other drug prevention.

Served the department as a field training officer and helped review the 12 week field training program. Awarded the position of crime prevention officer. Co-taught alcohol sanction classes with a motivational interviewing approach. Developed a social media and YouTube crime prevention campaign. Partnered with the Office of Student Standards, Health Education Resource Center, Housing Department, New Student Programs, Counseling Center, and the Alcohol and Other Drug Coalition to address crime prevention as a team on campus. Conducted campus security reports and partnered with Student Government for campus safety walks. Key Contributions/Accomplishments • Eastern Illinois University was identified in the top 10 nationwide for evidenced-based crime prevention programming based on a survey conducted by Margolis Healy LLC, on behalf of the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. • Developed and presented programs to the Eastern Illinois University Campus reaching over 7,400 individuals. • Created an EIU Police Department web-based smartphone app. - Advanced training in cyber terrorism, identity theft, cyber stalking, high risk event planning, current trends in drug abuse, alcohol enforcement and search/seizure training, advanced media relations.

Held responsible for all daily operations of a 70,500 sq ft facility, employees, and patrons. Held a high level of attention to detail to ensure a safe environment for students, faculty/staff and family members. Professionally used facilities management and interpersonal communication skills to maintain a distinguished level of standards and values.Key Contributions/Accomplishments• Six years experience working as a team with students, faculty/staff, athletes, family members, and the University Departments.• Supervise a student staff of 40-50 employees with a focus on academic, personal and organization achievement.

A certified Corrections Officer responsible for the booking, searching, fingerprinting and classification of inmates and arrestees. Completed necessary court documents and detailed reports according to the policies and procedures. Used strong interpersonal communication skills to work with distraught and non-compliant inmates. Maintained a safe and secure facility to protect inmates, officers and the community. Key Contributions/Accomplishments- Completed the University of Illinois Police Training Institute’s Correctional Officer Academy. Awarded Scholastic Achievement Award for being in the top 10% academically.

Conducted fish sampling in high elevation lakes to evaluate fish population and health. Genetic sampling of cutthroat trout populations in high elevation streams.Chosen to work in the Northwest Regional Office assisting customers with questions on hunting regulations along with issuing license and permits. Educated and informed the public on many Colorado outdoor and wildlife activities. Key Contributions/Accomplishments- Professionally interact with the public while working in the field to explain and teach the need for sampling and fish management.

Chosen as an intern in a highly competitive field. Investigated and worked wildlife code cases gathering information and maintaining sharp records. Conducted numerous boat safety inspections and enforced fishing regulations. Patrolled the region working with the public’s tips and complaints and was on hand to answer their questions. Key Contributions/Accomplishments- Arranged and successfully conducted an undercover trout season operation, and set a new method for years to follow.- Received all “Excellent” ratings on final evaluation. Well noted on working with the public and professional at all times along with great initiative and attention to detail.

Promoted to Sergeant E-5 in only three years. Company recon/sniper team leader. Assistant instructor on subjects such as: marksmanship, rappelling, land navigation, tactical entry/room clearing, leadership and military values. Key Contributions/Accomplishments • Called to active duty for Operation Iraqi Freedom for 18 months. Patrol Leader for numerous combat patrols. Conducted community policing, public relations, traffic control points, raids, cache searches and sniper/over-watch missions.• Awarded two Army Commendation Medals, one for valor and one for meritorious service. Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Air Assault Badge, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.
