As an academic pharmacist, I wear many hats including administrator, researcher, clinician, and educator. I have nearly 20 years of experience as a clinical pharmacist in large academic medical centers. My clinical and research expertise includes preventive cardiology and cardiometabolic disease, while I also seek to advance the role of pharmacists as collaborative members of the healthcare team. I am currently a tenured Professor and have the fortunate pleasure of serving as Chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Outcomes Science at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. Before joining the faculty at VCU, I was a clinical pharmacist practitioner in outpatient cardiology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.I have a true passion for creative problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation. Mentoring and helping students, trainees, and early career faculty succeed is also an important aspect of my work that I greatly enjoy.I have a PharmD from Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and am Board Certified in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy. Additionally, I am a Clinical Lipid Specialist, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and National Lipid Association.I'm always interested in making new connections with like-minded individuals and hearing from current or former colleagues, especially former students, and trainees, so feel free to contact me if you'd like to connect.Faculty Profile: https://app.pharmacy.vcu.edu/dldixon
