Selected to serve as Commander of Charlie Company (Medical) 132d Brigade Support Battalion, a Role 2 medical company. Allowed the opportunity to lead some of Wisconsin's best Soldiers in an exhaustive train up for deployment to the middle-east in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Train up included a rotation at the Joint Regional Training Center (JRTC), CTE at post Mobilization site, enrollment of all medical personnel in premiere training schools. Train up allowed Soldier to learn and practice cutting-edge tactical strategies and medical techniques that can translate to lives saved in Large-scale combat operations (LSCO). Focus of Command is on mission-command principles, knowledge management and updating TTPs (including implementation of blood management operations and walking blood bank operations).

Sheboygan, Wisconsin Area

Working as part of a cardiology team that delivers focused, concise and appropriate cardiac care as part of the 10th largest not for profit health-care systems in America. The position is divided into 50% in-patient care including consults, pre-procedural/pre-operative assessment and care. The other 50% of time is centered on out-patient care focused on improving the cardiac health/quality of life of my patients. The out-patient role is specifically designed to contribute to the cardiology groups success by supporting a variety of stress testing modalities. Currently on military leave in-order-to better serve my country during mobilization.

Served in multiple roles of increasing responsibility, initially as the Officer-in-charge (OIC) leading a team of 30+ Service members in COVID testing operations during the global pandemic. Transitioned to managing numerous field testing teams while serving as a regional OIC. Eventually overseeing initial training and rollout of vaccine efforts within the state while supervising clinical staff. Teamed up with Public Health, Emergency management and County leadership in order to develop fast, innovative and effective testing strategies to serve local citizens. Worked closely with test developers to identify best practices and capture lessons learned to influence future success of COVID testing. Designed concepts of operation plans that married Taskforce leadership intent with community needs.

Deployed forward while serving as the Battalion Surgeon (PA-C) for an artillery battalion in support of several important operations within the Middle East. Primary role includes providing direct world-class medical care to Soldiers forward deployed and indirectly supervising the care of Soldiers within the region spread across several countries and a variety of geographic locations. Additionally, serving as special staff providing subject matter expertise on military medicine, complex medical evacuation, community health concerns, medical logistics, coordinating care through host-nation facilities and developing partnerships with co-located coalition healthcare teams.

Serving as a commissioned medical officer (PA-C) in the Wisconsin National Guard. Completed 9 months of a pilot fellowship to learn the intricate nature of appropriate care in an ICU environment. My experience included rotations in the CVICU, MICU, NICU, SICU, TICU and elective rotations in the CT surgery department, infectious disease and nephrology. The end result was a better understanding of the Advance Practice Provider (APP) role in the critical care environment.

Served as the Treatment NCO of a Taskforce aid-station responsible for conserving the fighting strength of the 700+ members of TaskForce Badger at eight different locations across Iraq; worked directly with the primary care provider utilizing advanced technical skills to assess injuries/illnesses and develop/execute appropriate treatment plans; directly supervised aid-station operations; maintained equipment; supervised thirteen medics performing medical/tactical operations throughout the country; performed duties of the Section NCO in his absence; conducted accountability of all prescription drugs dispensed by the aid-station; developed advanced combat life-saver curriculum used to enhance unit survivability.In all, this experience really refined my ability to evaluate, understand and execute tasks/missions with "the whole" in mind. I was able to support the Unit's mission, both directly and indirectly, by providing clear and concise direction to Team-members deployed forward to a number of in-country locations. This deployment allowed me to demonstrate my full array of leadership capability and exposed me to key experiences that I can draw upon in any situation or setting.

This role provided me the opportunity to showcase my ability to teach subjects I was incredibly familiar with and, at the same time, to handle the administrative tasks associated with providing formal instruction.

Responsibilities included application of combat medicine techniques in high-stress environments; development and execution of advanced problem-solving techniques in real-time; care and maintenance of medical equipment valued at ~$1,000; provided direct medical care to ~80 Soldiers in combat conditions with limited resources for the duration of two deployments overseas; mentored and trained subordinate Medics; developed leadership skills; provided direct input to Superiors concerning the health and wellness of Soldiers in my unit; composite risk management.This was my initial role as a Soldier and a Medic in the worlds ONLY Air Assault Division. This experience allowed me the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the best leaders in the country. My five-plus years as a member of the 101st Airborne Division were the most influential in my decision to pursue a formal degree program and it greatly shaped my decision making processes to this day.My experiences included Air Assault School, Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), attendance at the Alfred Rascon College of Combat Medicine, two rotations at the Joint Regional Training Center (JRTC) and two deployments to Iraq where I participated in combat operations as a line medic.

Specifically, I focused on increasing the efficiency of qPCR protocols while reducing cost to the lab in regards to materials and time. This position required critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze data representing genotypical traits of organisms in real time. Ultimately, research was done in order to promote a better understanding of complex public health issues.This undergraduate research was undertaken concurrent with my undergraduate studies and not necessary for the completion of my degree. It was undertaken to develop a better understanding of molecular principles. At the completion of my undergraduate degree my opportunity to conduct student research came to an end.
