Juncus Studio is a sole-proprietor landscape architecture practice based in Portland, Oregon. The passion and focus of my career is the protection and healing of our urban watersheds through embedding natural systems within local communities. My search for knowledge has provided me with a very unique career balanced with years of public sector service, private sector experience, and as an adjunct professor at a major university. I have had the opportunity to be both the “client” and “consultant” during my years of service. This balance of experience provides me with the ability to understand how projects fit into the bigger picture of department goals, budgets, public need, and policy – and the ability to deliver a detailed set of deliverables on-time and on-budget.

Portland, Oregon Area

Metro is a regional parks provider with over 17,000 acres of natural area and 4,500 acres of parks. My responsibilities included management and implementation of large-scale park planning and capital projects and region-wide system planning efforts. As Project Manager for the Willamette Falls Riverwalk project down in Oregon City, I led the early design efforts, capital budget development, and public outreach efforts for Metro. I led initial park planning and public outreach efforts for numerous large scale nature parks and access improvements including Newell Creek Canyon, North Tualatin Mountains, and Chehalem Ridge. Other duties included the design of a standard park bench and kiosk, and development of site furnishing standards while working closely with park ranger staff to ensure safety and operations requirements were met.

GreenWorks is an award winning, nationally recognized landscape architecture firm who has been in practice for over 30 years. My responsibilities included a wide range of office management and business financial responsibilities including development of project budgets, proposal writing, management of staff, public presentations, project financials, and leading design efforts for a number of projects. While at GreenWorks, I was involved with a number of leading-edge projects including the Zidell Yards and the Expo Center Stormwater Wall.

Portland Oregon

Worked for over 3 years at the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services in the Sustainable Stormwater Division. During that time he focused on innovative stormwater design specifically green street and green roof design, co-taught the City’s Ecoroof Seminar Series, served on the City’s SWAT (Stormwater Advisory Team), designed over 120 green street facilities and implemented many new green street design details.
