1984-2015I have over 31 years of experience working in a local authority Fire and Rescue Service operating at all levels up to and including Assistant Chief Fire Officer. This has given me a unique knowledge, experience and skill set particularly in the field of emergency and crisis risk management, operations, planning and training.During my 31 years;I oversaw the management of financial controls, including budgets of up to £28M, alongside asset management, procurement, property, office / engineering / technical services, health and safety, emergency response support and transport.Led and motivated 50+ staff and played an integral role in their training and development as Assistant Chief Fire Officer while promoting partnerships between external agencies, including other emergency services, local authorities, trade unions, company directors and government departments.Delivered emergency response functions within Bedfordshire, including 14 fire stations and the Emergency Communications Centre as Head of Operations (2012-2013) while managing 400+ operational personnel.Headed up the Service training and development function.
