About David Hartley

I am a business and technology executive with over 30 years of continuous innovation and leadership including experiences as a Chief Information Officer, Big 4 consulting and audit, plus CPA. I was recognized by the Missouri Society of CPAs with their “Impact Award: Outstanding Innovator” in November 2018 and elected to serve as a Member of the MOCPA Board of Directors for 2020-2023.My focus is leading the Advisory Practice at Anders CPAs + Advisors. I help guide the strategy for the value-added services at Anders, including Virtual CFO (VCFO), Anders Technology (Technology Services Provider), Forensic Valuation and Litigation Services (FVLS), Healthcare Consulting and Provider Enrollment, State and Local Tax (SALT), etc. The Anders Technology team delivers managed technology and cloud services, technology advisory services, and business intelligence and data analytics. I have extensive experience in providing technology-related services, including Virtual CIO services, roadmap development, strategic planning and cybersecurity. SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports are also a focus area for me at Anders.I was formerly VP & CIO at Arch Coal (now Arch Resources), one of the world's largest, safest and most environmentally responsible coal producers. There I was responsible for leading Arch's technology with a focus on optimizing business processes along with enhancing safety and environmental efforts.My experience includes designing and implementing technology strategy, leading both large and small high-performing teams, planning and executing M&A transactions and large complex integrations. I have a broad understanding of strategic planning, application development, mobile, infrastructure & operations (I&O), cloud/SaaS, business intelligence/analytics, cybersecurity, business continuity planning, operations technology, etc. I also host the 'But Who's Counting' podcast available on Spotify and Apple podcasts.I earned my stripes via extensive Big 4 consulting, advisory and audit experience at large global firms including Ernst & Young (EY), Arthur Andersen, Protiviti and UHY LLP.
