In a race that included state elected officials who took hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporations, landlords and Big Real Estate, Dr. Flo finished above all of them in the April 2024 primary, yielding international attention.

Launched VOICES: River City in April 2017 to serve as a platform for independent news and arts coverage, as well as truth-to-power commentary from members of the Sacramento, CA, community. We reached hundreds of thousands of readers, changing regional discourse and empowering marginalized neighbors.During the coronavirus pandemic, we pivoted to become a wildly popular political commentary/news podcast, gaining over 100,000 views and listens, and changing the face of Sacramento regional politics in the process. After Sacramento County made it obligatory for employees who refused their COVID-19 vaccines to be tested weekly, I oversaw compulsory PCR testing for Sacramento Sheriff's Department employees working in corrections.

I worked with Epic Digital on contract as a Story Hunter, searching for interesting, inspiring and all-around human stories throughout the world. Clients have included Google, IBM, Ford and GoDaddy, and story hunts spanned the globe, reaching as far as India, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.

In this Robert F. Kennedy award-winning project, I reported on the town of Emiliano Zapata, outside of Campeche, Mexico, where impoverished residents maintained expansive orchards with the hope that they could raise the town's quality of life so their young men would not risk their lives crossing the border in search of more lucrative work.
