Appointed by the Denton County Commissioners Court to represent the county as the At-Large member of the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) Board of Directors. The DCTA is a regional transportation agency with an annual budget of approximately $30M and capital projects of up to $350M. Elected as an officer by fellow Board Members, currently serving as Board Treasurer. Chairman of the Finance Committee which oversees the development and implementation of the annual budget, operating expenditures, and financial controls.

Elected as an officer by fellow Board Members, serving as Board Secretary in 2012.

Responsible for the IT Infrastructure of a Fortune 300 company consisting of approximately 500 globally distributed servers and more than 100 TB of data. Responsible for the designing and implementing a global architecture for IT infrastructure components such as Active Directory, DNS, WINS, OS, SANs and appropriate clustering software, as well as tape backup and recovery systems. Ensure timely resolution of all problem situations, including tracking problem resolution through the discovery, implementation, and verification of root cause solutions. Applied discipline and risk management to the change activity taking place in the environment.

Led the operations of US government data centers containing 225+ servers and the largest (in terms of dollars transacted per day) government e-commerce site in the world. Perform people care, salary administration, hiring/firing (internal, external, and contract labor), and associate development for approximately 40 personnel including Unix/Windows systems admins, engineers, security architects, and DBAs. Supported all infrastructure components including; OS, identity management systems, network devices, firewalls, SANs and appropriate clustering software, web site support software, tape backup and recovery systems, database design, creation, and administration, and security management tools. Ensure timely resolution of all problem situations, including tracking problem resolution through the discovery, implementation, and verification of root cause solutions. Applied discipline and risk management to the change activity taking place in the environment.

Responsible for the implementation and delivery of EDS’ Internal Systems, a Windows based environment that included over 550 windows servers supporting a user base of 120,000 employees. This environment included Exchange mailboxes for all employees, file-sharing access for the 60,000 U.S. employees, and the infrastructure components required (i.e. – DNS, DHCP, Tivoli, SMS, etc.) Led the EDS Internal Operations team consisting of 80 people including 2 first line leaders, 12 Business Service Analysts, 2 SysAdmin teams, the Executive Deskside team, and Desktop Model Office team.. Performed people care; staffing; salary administration; and associate development functions for these teams and their leaders. Directed the day to day operations and problem resolution for over 3000 EDS internal servers including the corporate SAP, e-Mail, problem and change management ticketing systems, automation and tools servers, anti-virus and security patch distribution, and Web Hosting environments.

Managed a 568 midrange and distributed server global environment for a major oil corporation, by leading the Operations team consisting of 21 people including 1 first line leader and 20 Windows Server Administrators. Led the implementation of this new client, overseeing the takeover of existing personnel and operations. Represented EDS during the sales pursuit cycle, from both a client facing perspective as well as costing and solution development for the pursuit. Ensured documentation of existing processes and procedures and setting up interfaces with the client on problem and change management procedures. Implemented process improvements and automation that reduced the required staff by 10%.

Led the Operations implementation of over 200 Windows NT based Servers at 24 sites across the U.S. Directed the efforts to migrate the EDS large campus environments from the previous service to the new offering. Managed a staff of 20 Windows Server Administrators and a budget of $6 million; performing outlook, relief recovery, and expense containment. Performed due diligence and costing related to the EDS internal environment and delivered a 15% cost reduction to EDS while maintaining service levels and profitability levels. Negotiated Service Level Agreements and the Statements of Work with internal business partners.

Team Leader for Quality Certification effort for EDS’ Plano data center. Supervised team of 60 “Quality Advisors”. Worked with all teams within organization to assist them in understanding and meeting requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001 quality standard. Participated in internal assessments as part of organization’s effort to gauge its compliance to requirements of the QMS and ISO 9001. Taught internal courses in quality auditing to ISO 9001.

Maintained DASD pools, monitoring them for utilization and making appropriate adjustments. Performed data recovery actions for malfunctioning hardware and defective tape media. Worked on complex merges, evaluation of new technologies, tape library reductions/cleanups, hardware reconfiguration/elimination and other major projects. Supervised a team of 30 contract employees performing a changeover for bar-coded tape labels in 660,000 tape environment.

Assured proper operation of tape library and provided prompt access to data stored on tape media. Coverage included tape library, computer room floor, fire response, etc. Led Lost Tape Corrective Action Team. Undertook projects such as writing emergency procedures, reducing tape library, reconfiguring tape hardware, representing organization during audits, creating Key Service Indicators, creating and integrating the Automated Tape Library (ATL) team. Administered performance appraisals, salaries, career counseling, and Operations Development Program education for 15 entry-level individuals.

Designated Team Leader for Interactive Systems and Abend Resolution areas to serve as a consultant for questions regarding customer relations and technical material. Monitored overall system performance and made adjustments to increase performance. Responded to customer inquiries regarding batch, system, and on-line performance. Performed Abend Resolution duties on various systems for manufacturing, financial, health, and energy customers. Monitored all hardware and software in support of the General Motors GMT-400 project. Responded to system software and hardware problems and determined appropriate action. Interacted with internal/ external groups during problem situations. Planned the disaster recovery area for the Fort Wayne data center.

Elected a third time to represent the 8000 residents of the northeast quadrant of the city. Provided direction and oversight to a Texas home-rule city with a council-manager form of government and a budget of approximately $17M annually.
