I am a dedicated and skilled licensed clinical social worker specializing in individuals, teens, and straight and GLBT couples therapy. I maintain a private practice in the historic Mississippi District of inner North Portland. I have a long standing interested in mental wellness, resiliency, positive psychology, mindfulness, neurobiology and emotional intelligence. I am continually excited by new research as it comes out demonstrating the resilience and plasticity of the human brain. I am also working with my neighborhood schools and http://projecthappiness.org to bring happiness strategies and emotional awareness skills into the middle and high school. Among my areas of expertise are the psychology of men, relationship issues, adolescent concerns and issues related to anxiety, including shame, low self-esteem, fears and phobias and social skills deficits. I have presented at conferences and to general audiences, on the topics of clinical interventions using mindfulness-based therapy, and parenting, emotion regulation and stress management. My therapeutic approach is to provide support, education and strategies to meet specific goals and improve overall functioning. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client.
