In March 2011, I left my staff role at the BBC World Service to pursue several freelance opportunities. This was a mixture of shift-based reporting work and commissioned features. During this time I worked at the BBC as a technology reporter, as well as on the general news and sports online desks.During this time I made live appearances on BBC television and radio to discuss key technology stories.Other work included with the BBC World Service, Sky News and the Evening Standard.At Sky News, stand out coverage includes writing the lead article on the death of Colonel Gaddafi.

I was part of BBC News' pioneering breaking news desk - a team which was responsible for managing the newsroom's social media accounts, principally @BBCNews, @BBCWorld and the @BBCBreaking accounts. The accounts had a reach of millions.

In-house freelance work for the BBC Sport, writing football/rugby/etc reports as well as general sports news.

Working within the BBC World Service team, I wrote feature articles for the BBC News website on a variety of subjects, including technology, science, sport, politics and African affairs.Further content included picture galleries, audio slideshows and other interactive multimedia.

Researching and writing posts on the BBC Internet Blog, a popular site discussing the BBC's foray into the webbed world. Working alongside Nick Reynolds, the BBC's social media executive.

Working alongside one of Britain's best journalists, Andrew Gilligan, I helped research background information in his scoop about Lee Jasper and Ken Livingstone. The story was regarded as a major factor in Livingstone losing the subsequent mayoral election.

I founded and was editor of the University of Lincoln's student newspaper, The Linc. - Nominated for student newspaper of the year and editor of the year at Press Gazette Awards, 2008. - Winner of publication of the year, best reporting and editor of the year at the Lincoln Student Media Awards 2008.

I was the editor of 'Available for Panto', a Virgin Media-sponsored blog taking a less-than-serious look at 2007's edition of Big Brother.
