Bullseye is an operating framework and web application for creating a team-wide practice around the principle that strong habit formation is a mission-critical input for excellent customer-facing teams. We proved that cultivating the right habits for the people interacting with customers will drive a differentiated experience, and outsized business results (as reflected in revenue, EBITDA and account retention). I created Bullseye and implemented it in the markets I led, iterating the system in partnership with my building teams through five major revisions over almost five years. This was not a separate position but I’m breaking it out because this is such a passion area for me, and because it embodies the fusion of entrepreneurship with high-growth, high-scale operations leadership.

Selected by the CEO to pioneer this new leadership role at WeWork, with the idea that as we began to expand to Asia and Latin America, we would decentralize operational decision-making by empowering the new General Manager role with the autonomy to drive the business forward in our respective regions.I led the WeWork business for markets throughout eastern US & Canada and oversaw the opening of many of them. “Soup to nuts” role, responsible for region P&L, doing whatever was necessary to deliver results. Heavy external work also, with press and with contractors, unions, elected officials, landlords and local business leaders across multiple markets.

Hired to bring the entrepreneur mindset & intensity to turn around the struggling Boston market for WeWork. Results: we drove our two buildings from 60% to 90% occupancy in four months, setting the stage to make Boston one of WeWork’s highest performing US markets, growing >10x in 5 years, from 130k sf to 1.5M sf and from ~1,500 members to >15,000.

BWP pioneered a model for crowd-sourcing the marketing of a city. Public-Private partnership led by Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino along with CEOs and top executives from State Street Bank, Harvard Business School, Fidelity Investments, the Boston Redevelopment Authority, Massachusetts Secretary of Housing & Economic Development, The Boston Globe and more.

Led strategy and all aspects of execution on this network-focused approach to growing Boston's economy. Public-private partnership, underwritten by a combination of public funds, corporate donations, and major media support.

Acquired by PayPal (April 2011)Early, visionary approach to allow consumers to pay with their smartphones in restaurants and retail stores. Fig removed hardware costs for the merchants and consumers, offering the benefits of speed, security, and convenience, as well as integrated loyalty programs and a whole array of data-derived benefits such from item-level analytics etc.I was responsible for the rapid, successful execution on the following: (1) helping to define and articulate strategic direction, (2) closing all investor financing and (3) closing roughly 50 pre-launch customer commitments. We were acquired by PayPal prior to launch.

The Irish Film Festival explores and celebrates the cinema of the Irish and the Irish diaspora. Very proud to be associated with this team and this organization which showed the first American screenings of films such as Once, and which brings together rising stars with leading Irish artists such as Gabriel Byrne, Brendan Gleeson, Colm Meaney, Fionnula Flanagan, Gaeltacht director Bob Quinn, and many many more.

Wrote multiple screenplays, including the feature film "Southie," starring Rose McGowan, Amanda Peet, Donnie Wahlberg; winner of the Jury Prize @ the 1998 Seattle Film Festival. Also wrote & directed "On Broadway," starring Joey McIntyre, Eliza Dushku, Will Arnett, Mike O'Malley, Amy Poehler and others, winner of multiple festival honors in 2007. Wrote and/or directed various other screenplays and plays.

During this period, I split my time between researching and developing the Boston World Partnerships strategy and working at marlo marketing/communications. My role at mmc combined outreach to raise awareness in sectors that the agency had not previously serviced with an internal focus on agency messaging and operations.

Boston's Planning & Economic Development Agency
