As an analyst on the Quote System project, my responsibilities include gathering detailed requirements for features the business requires, coordinating QA activities for work in progress as well as for a release. As a group, we perform our work using the Agile methodology and our requirements come from working directly with the business to understand their job roles and from internal technical constraints. As an analyst with a technical background, I am afforded the ability to speak the language of the development team, which allows me to develop requirements in line with both the business and the developers. Collaborating with analysts across functions has allowed me to grow as I understand how other functions of the business operate and forces me to adapt to produce results. I have also had the opportunity to mentor the junior resources on the team. In doing so, it has shown me how to take a step back and highlight the basics as well as delegating tasks which will help those resources grow. I focus on teaching them how to solve the problem, not just give them an answer or show them the answer. Mastering the process is the key to long term success because it can be applied to any situation.

I work in a development team supporting and developing for a Product Data Management (PDM) system called Windchill. I develop in an Agile environment where we strive to meet the needs of our customers. The environment is built on Java, JSP, and XML, with an Oracle database behind it. I regularly engage our customers for requirements and to keep them informed on the ongoing development.

In my position as Systems Engineer, I wore many different hats. I was a developer of web applications built on ColdFusion, Java, XML, and Oracle. I also performed System Safety analyses, participated in trade studies, worked on business planning and budgeting, and helped train newer members of the group. I was often the customer liaison for the group which included internal and external customers. I successfully lead an effort to deploy an enterprise wide software solution to be used across the United States.During my time at this position, I co-authored a paper on software testing and how it relates to system safety and presented it and the Sytem Safety Society Conference. I also currently have a patent pending for an analysis tool I developed.

At Expressive Tek, I was a web developer that created and maintained websites and web based applications using PHP and MySQL. As this was a smaller operation, I frequently interfaced with clients, often working projects from idea to completion. As part of that process, I helped create proposals and gather requirements.
