I've spent most of my career focused on sales and revenue growth in a wide variety of industries while building high-performing, customer-centric teams that attack each day with positive, winning attitudes. I approach sales and operational leadership through leading by example which I believe is crucial to developing buy-in and credibility so that you can lead your teams effectively. I have a true passion for coaching and development and take pride in achieving corporate goals while balancing the "people" aspects of the business.And although my career has been sales-focused, I believe it is vital for Sales and Marketing to be in sympatico - working together with a constant feedback loop.I'm also a bit of a data junky but have refined my approach to data to avoid departmental analysis-paralysis, ensuring we have access to real-time simplified and actionable data, to help us make decisions and get the results we need.Like our management guru pal Peter Drucker, I am a believer in the promise that "culture eats strategy for breakfast". It's the people that make the difference. We must create the strategy, but it's our culture that determines whether or not our strategies will be embraced, executed effectively and to their fullest potential. I think of the Culture of Success as a four-legged stool...each leg playing an equal, vital role.Leg 1 - Get the Right People...people who are motivated and take ownership of their successes and failures. People that do not accept mediocrity. People who will exhibit an owner's mentality who want to be part of something bigger than themselves.Leg 2 - Accountability...mutual accountability where the accountability flows up, down, left, right. Accountability that ensures you meet your deadlines, pull your "weight" and where people have the tools they need to do their jobs. Measure everything to ensure goals are being met or exceeded. Leg 3 - Communication...open and transparent. Focus on the "why" AND the "what". Feedback is critical. Leg 4 - Environment...whether onsite or remote...you have the ability to create your environment. Professional and fun. Innovation is encouraged. Wins are celebrated. Failures are learning opportunities. If one leg breaks, you may not fall immediately, but a mere nudge puts you on your back. Two legs...well, you get the picture.And when you have four, sturdy legs and are intentional about each one of them, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish together and how much you and your team can enjoy what they do...every, single, day.
