My background includes 30 years of work in the healthcare field. Specifically, in the area of chronic respiratory disease and rehabilitation. I find it enjoyable and challenging to help design and implement chronic disease management programs for people with asthma, COPD, and cystic fibrosis. I'm the Primary Investigator on two seperate HRSA grants. I lead an interprofessional team with a focus on improving the rural workforce to treat Long-COVID using pulmonary rehabilitation. As the Associate Dean for Community Engagement & Workforce Initiatives, I lead a major initiative to recruit, train, retain, and inspire students from disadvantaged backgrounds to graduate with a degree in the School of Health Professions. I enjoy collaborating with other clinicians to support the multidisciplinary care of patients and community members. Lastly, one of the most enjoyable aspects of my work is teaching and mentoring students at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
