As a Director Fellow of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Strategic Studies Group (SSG), we explored innovations in naval warfighting and generating operational concepts that underpinned them with cutting-edge technologies. Working directly for the CNO, our team developed overarching blueprints and roadmaps for these concepts and recommended immediate actionable steps.Within the SSG, I also had the privilege of being a member of the Naval Warfare Concept Team (CT). We focused on shaping the future roles and missions of Naval forces. This involved conducting independent research on technology and its application to warfighting, presenting concepts to review groups, and engaging directly with the Chief of Naval Operations.Additionally, I played a vital role as a member of the "Expeditionary Sailor 2030" Concept Team, where we focused on generating new concepts for Navy expeditionary operations through the year 2030. As an author and co-author of several concepts, I explored ideas related to engagement through leadership, open advancement systems, and a reimagined personnel system. These concepts were thoughtfully articulated and defended in a highly critical and constructive environment, led by senior warfighters from the US Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Air Force.Throughout my assignment, I leveraged my expertise in combining the operator's perspective with innovative thinking to generate revolutionary concepts that would ensure the Navy's future success. This was a great experience that honed my ability to question norms and drive change through the constant evolution of strategies and technologies.
