About Dave Messer

Due to a reorganization at my current company, I am looking for a new engineering opportunity in the Peoria, IL area. I have a well diversified background in design, test, and development. In my most recent position, I designed conduits, cables, and connectors for military and aeronautic applications. It was quite exciting to know that some of my designs were used on products ranging from nuclear subs to guided missiles. Prior to that I worked in the earth moving industry at Caterpillar as a test and development engineer on almost every piece of equipment Caterpillar manufactures. My primary area of expertise was hydraulics, with additional experience in sound/vibration and engine emission testing and development. Since most of my work was done in the field, I was fortunate to learn to operate nearly all the equipment and really "feel" the power these machines have. That improved my development skills by creating a real understanding of what the operators look for from the machines.I'm a big believer in cost cutting through standardization and efficiency and am very proud of the improvements in testing and efficiency I made during my time at CAT. This includes developing two standardized testing procedures, a standardized reporting format for two different products, and a test development spreadsheet used for developing instrumentation needs. My main personal trait that benefits my employers is that I am a high energy person. This is exemplified by my choice of recreational pursuits which include white water kayaking, indoor and rock climbing, and downhill skiing. I tend to throw myself 100% in to all my pursuits, including employment, recreation, and family.

Listed skills include Construction Equipment, Hydraulic Systems, Testing, Technical Writing, and 11 others.
