Dave Moutray has an M.A. in English from Eastern Illinois University and an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Dave hails from the Midwest, but when he arrived in the Bay Area almost twelve years ago, it was then that his dreams of making films came true. He has created fourteen films since making the career move from English professor to filmmaker and has won awards for his directing and screenwriting.Recently, he co-wrote, directed, shot, and edited Flip the Switch, an award-winning documentary about solar mamas from Barefoot College that screened in a special event at SFFILM. He is also proud to be the co-founder of the Bay Area Film Mixer, a quarterly event, successfully running for eight years and still going strong -- the event allows filmmakers from all over the Bay to network and create a tighter community of like-minded film professionals. It’s goal is to keep as much talent as possible in the Bay Area.He has also worked with clients such as Samsung, Salesforce, Barilla and Hogan Lovell's, along with NGO's and non-profits such as PeaceTech Lab and Barefoot College for video and marketing content.
