Vanlife Customs specializes in creating custom-made campervans using the Sprinter, Transit, and Promaster chassis. Our journey began when I built my first Sprinter in my backyard in Boulder, enabling me to travel and work as an outdoor educator at a low cost. Today, our team of 15 experts operates out of a 21,000 sq. ft. facility in Arvada, CO. At any given moment, we have 4-6 campervans in production and an additional 3 vehicles undergoing accessory installation in our service department. To date we've built over 150 vans for private clients and business alike.As a small business owner in the custom campervan manufacturing industry, I wear many hats and have a wide range of responsibilities. My role requires me to have a vision for my company and set achievable goals to reach that vision. I make important strategic decisions that shape the direction of the business and oversee day-to-day operations to ensure everything runs smoothly. I also manage the finances of the company, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and keeping a close eye on cash flow. Maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees is crucial for the success of my business, so I make sure to keep communication lines open and identify new business opportunities and market trends. My deep understanding of the custom campervan industry helps me make informed decisions that keep my business competitive and profitable. Running a small business in this field requires a strong work ethic, strategic thinking, and excellent leadership skills - all of which I am committed to providing and improving on.

As a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) Instructor, I have the privilege of teaching and mentoring students in wilderness and outdoor education courses. I lead backpacking, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities while instilling leadership skills and environmental ethics in my students. My top priority is the safety and well-being of my students, and I am able to effectively communicate and manage group dynamics. I have extensive knowledge in wilderness medicine and can make critical decisions in emergency situations. Along with teaching and leading, I also contribute to curriculum development and program evaluation. My ultimate goal as a NOLS Instructor is to provide students with a transformative educational experience in the wilderness and help shape the next generation of outdoor leaders.

As an IT professional, I was tasked with working on various projects on an as-needed basis. This included setting up an Active Directory test lab to ensure efficient and effective testing processes. I was also responsible for installing and configuring SSO solutions to evaluate their suitability for our company and future clients. Managing the VMWare environment was another important aspect of my role, as it helped ensure smooth and seamless virtualization. In addition to these specific responsibilities, I was also expected to provide general IT support, which involved troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arose.

As a Devops Engineer I was responsible for analyzing and performing upgrades of the company's wireless and physical networks. I also created a standard Mac OSX Image with all required applications and security features installed. In addition, I worked closely with the development team to ensure the smooth deployment of weekly software releases. Managing multiple AWS staging and production environments was a critical aspect of my role, as it helped ensure the reliability and stability of the systems. I was also responsible for orchestrating and executing Apple lease renewals and hardware refreshes, as well as tracking and responding to outages in production environments. In addition, I evaluated and managed the installation of a business VOIP system and designed and implemented a failover cellular network for office internet access. These tasks required strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

As a Contracted Ops Engineer, I worked closely with the Symplified Operations team to manage and support their internal infrastructure including servers and networks consisting of VMware, KVM, linux and windows server.

At Symplified I was responsible for implementing various technical solutions to ensure the smooth functioning of the company's network. This included implementing WSUS across the AD environment to ensure that production servers and Windows workstations were updated and patched. I also sourced and built a CentOS Linux server running netatalk to provide Apple time machine backup storage for over 50 Mac laptops on the network. I implemented ESET NOD32 antivirus central administration server and deployed client install packages across the network for silent installation on Mac and Windows machines. I evaluated, ordered and configured multiple Dell servers for virtual environment hosting, storage, and network service usage. I also planned and executed a hardware refresh of both Mac and Windows workstations with considerations to data backup and migration to new equipment. I was responsible for managing OpenVPN certificates for employees, including adding and removing access. Additionally, I worked with staff to monitor, manage, and upgrade live production systems in a 99.99% uptime SLA environment. Using bash, I wrote multiple small scripts to automate common tasks, streamlining the overall workflow and efficiency of the network

As the Director of Manage Service, I set to designing and implementing a full-service call center to support hundreds of users across multiple domains. I produced and standardized various documents, including call routing procedures, call escalation guidelines, work order prioritization standards, user and asset tracking databases, and CSR and on-call responsibilities. I also sourced and implemented helpdesk tools such as Track-IT, LogMeIn Rescue remote assistance, and a VOIP system to streamline support services. I worked directly with clients on high priority, high visibility projects and problems, and produced training documents and presentations to onboard new clients and their users. I also orchestrated timely hardware refreshes and client rollouts based on client and vendor deadlines, serving as a client-vendor liaison for third-party applications and hardware such as copiers, BlackBerry Server, and Quickbooks Server. In addition to my call center responsibilities, I doubled as the company's wireless device administrator, planning and implementing BlackBerry Professional Software and turning up support for Windows Mobile devices for our clients. I led the operations department in implementing disaster recovery and scheduled maintenance procedures for client networks and hardware, ensuring the stability and reliability of our clients' systems.
