For fun and exercise I play rec-league hockey as well as walking the dog and going to the gym. I have a zeal for camping and the outdoors - especially with family and friends.As an amateur astronomer and astrophotographer I like to embrace the *real* big picture, which helps keep my feet on the ground while contemplating our place in the universe. And as part of my recognition & gratitude for the environment, I often advocate for dark and quiet skies. I also enjoy combining my IT/Engineering background and astronomy interest through the building, operating and maintaining of a robotic and semi-autonomous telescope observatory.From a young age, I had an inherent appreciation for computers/Information Technology and what it could do (beyond games!), for productivity both personally and in business/corporate environments. Throughout my career, I have combined my mechanical engineering background with my IT aptitude to maximize productivity on large/mega projects. This has included implementing and leveraging engineering systems, information management, project controls, project management and Geographical Information Systems, among others.I have successfully applied these skills on complex offshore Oil and Gas facilities, onshore refinery projects and a large-scale Hydro Electric project. I have repeatedly been approached by mega projects to address failing information system implementations because I have become known for success in this area.Seeing the big picture has always been my north star. As an applied systems visionary, I excel in assessing the whole scene and fundamentally understanding end goals, before formulating action. I deeply value functional delivery and am driven to identify and apply novel ways for achieving final deliverables and project completion. Information is the lifeblood of any project but especially mega projects, and I strive to maximize knowledge as an enabler for project success. In such environments, teamwork is also essential - I thrive in team environments, and I am known for stabilizing, strengthening and successfully leading teams.
