I ran the site closure programme for Vodafone. The main aim was to reduce the footprint of old legacy sites where systems and network can be reduced across the UK so saving significant rental and power costs. Plus the decommissioning of old equipment, PDH, ATM, Frame and switches and moving the customers/circuits onto new MSP and DWDM platforms and other systems. This was a large capital spending programme running into millions to ensure new platforms were built to allow services to be migratedDue to records being very old and in some cases not relevant to the actual service provided, a significant amount of planning and surveying of the network had to be undertaken to give confidence of success Our customers (many of them large Enterprise FTSE 100 companies) had to be engaged via their account teams to ensure services were managed known and assessed for risk and impact of migrating them.Due to size of the expanding programme there was a need to engage across the board with• Property and landlords• Cable teams and planners• Network (NOC) and other internal network specialist• Account teams and customers

Worked on the ATM Frame simplification project to enable all the platforms to be migrated and then removed large sections of the platform from the network ready to close it. A very complex project due to the many different type of circuits and customers involved. This required a great deal of planning and investigatory work to understand the impact when moving to MSP platformsWork in conjunction with BT to ascertain the footprint C&W had on BT sites and what could be handed back to them and anything that needed to be upgraded to meet BT H&S and power usage criteria.
