About Dave Obermiller
In July of 2015 I decided to reduce the stress in my life by retiring from Obermiller Nelson Engineering (ONE) and becoming a partner in Mission Mechanical. I always wanted to try something different and changing my career to contracting allowed me a whole new fresh perspective on my life and career. In my new position as Engineer of Special Projects I take on different and interesting challenges. In addition my 35+ years of experience in the design field is valuable to our staff and clients. With relief from the pressures at ONE I am better able to enjoy my (part-time) career and life outside of work.In 1992, I opened the offices of ONE with my partner Mr. James Nelson. Prior to opening the ONE office I worked for Mooney Henning Metz and Associates. They were well known as the best HVAC design firm in the region and I wanted an opportunity to continue that reputation. Since 1984 I have been involved in the design of plumbing, heating, ventilation, cooling, temperature controls and fire protection systems for numerous commercial, institutional and industrial building projects.I have been involved in the review and evaluation of mechanical systems and equipment in relation to Federal, State and local Codes. I am familiar with the International Building, Mechanical, Energy, Fire, and Flue Gas Codes. I am also knowledgeable with the ND and MN Plumbing Codes, NFPA Codes, the Health Care Facilities Guidelines and ASHREA guides. I have the good fortune to be on the Fargo Codes Review Board.Two bench mark projects in my career were the Ralph Engelstad Arena used by the UND Fighting Sioux and the UND School of Medicine and Health Services facility. There are many building owners, facility managers, contractors, architects, and facility maintenance personal and other engineers that I owe a great deal to, for helping make my career a success.
