Edrms Sme
Engaged as a Subject Matter Expert in Documentum EDRMS, to lead on the agile delivery of a major EDRMS product version upgrade which was succesfully completed within budget.Continued to act in roles similar to a Product Owner and Scrum Master for the incremental delivery of several Features.
Technical Lead, Information Management (Edrms)
Technical Lead and owner for all Documentum EDRMS deliverables to a MOD system. In 2018, recognised the need for an operational and development value stream for a major new EDRMS client development, and successfully broke out of a waterfall-based captive process by removing obsolete legacy impediments.Became a servant leader of a cross-functional agile EDRMS delivery team, acting as both proxy Product Owner and in a Scrum Master role. By pivoting towards a continuous delivery pipeline and adoption of other agile disciplines, deployed a Minimum Viable Product within 6 weeks.Established a collaborative “Early Adopter Community” of Users and business stakeholders to identify new Features and their benefit hypothesis, and for feedback from the MVP and new “canary”/minimal Features, for iterative improvement and/or general release via Feature Toggles. The team quickly accelerated to achieve a high delivery velocity, with the deployment of more than 40 Features over 14 increments, with a deployment cadence of 6-8 weeks.Frequent refinement of the EDRMS Product Backlog to decompose Features into User Stories, assign User Story Points and Acceptance Criteria, and to prioritise Features against MoSCoW based on business benefit against Story Points - similar to Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF).Using constant exploration, identified and implemented many value propositions for design simplification and improvements, including the need for more accessible, on-line, help for Users, to increase exploitation.Data Migration Technical Lead and interface owner, advising customer on transition.Technical solution owner on numerous EDRMS changes.4th line support owner and lead on numerous Tiger teams.
Lead Architect For Pki
Architect for the Public Key Infrastructure solution for a Government framework providing Information and Communication Technology as a secure shared service to the public sector. I was lead architect for the Public Key Infrastructure which included Entrust and Microsoft PKI for infrastructure services and for 2-factor authentication, Token Lifecycle Management using Microsoft ILM 2007, and nCipher Hardware-based key management.
Chief Architect (Fujitsu), Jrimc Bid (Mod)
Fujitsu Chief Architect in a BAE-led consortium for the successful tender for JRIMC (Joint Reference Information Management Capability). The proposal was based on utilisation of the JC2SP (Joint Command and control Support Programme) openJOP SharePoint-based platform, which at Full Operating Capability would provide a coherent part of the Joint Operations Picture by leveraging Service Orientated Architecture together with a QinetiQ-developed application. This involved close working with the prime, BAE, and QinetiQ as the other partner within a complex work share/financial environment during the technical proposal development and planning, and assisting with the presentation of the proposal to the customer. Made a major contribution to increasing Fujitsu’s workshare, and the consortium was down-selected as the sole provider in late 2008.
Team Lead, Enterprise Content Management
The ECM (earlier the Collaboration and Web Services) team was a centre of expertise for EDRM, Collaboration and business process management solutions in Defence & Security space, reporting to the Design Manager. I lead a team that varied between 2 and 4 designers that produced ECM solutions to customers and Fujitsu internally. This included design support for the MOD “Accelerator” SharePoint 2003/Meridio solution, for which I was the Technical Design Authority, and numerous other SharePoint 2007 and 2003, web and workflow solutions and bid submissions. This role was demanding and often interrupted by the demands of concurrent roles. During this time, I personally initiated, got buy-in, prepared and presented a business case for an internal EDRMS, Collaboration and Workflow solution for the Fujitsu Defence & Security business unit called NEXiS and lead the business engagement, information architecture, design and deployment. I was also asked to prepare a case for the development of a coherent IS strategy for the business unit.
Chief Architect, “1-Net” Pre-Bid (Danish Mod)
We were approached by Fujitsu Denmark to help them manoeuvre Fujitsu, not widely known in Denmark, as a leading solution provider that the Danish MOD would seriously consider for their 1-NET programme. 1-NET is a programme for system and network consolidation and open-source connectivity, with a high NATO interface. I authored a technical proposal on the synergy that the 1-NET requirements had with the UK MOD’s DII (Defence Information Infrastructure), how elements of DII could be utilised to meet them, and on why Fujitsu are ideally placed to work with the Danish MOD. I subsequently presented this with senior Fujitsu management to the Danish MOD and Navy. This activity was successful in that Fujitsu are now in a better position to tender for this or future work.
Assistant Solution Design Authority, Dii/C (S) R1
Technical Solution Authority-type role involved coordinating the technical aspects and issues with Release 1 of the SECRET DII/F system.
Infrastructure Lead Architect, “Livewire” (Phase 1)
Lead architect for several Infrastructure subsystems including Windows 2003 Active Directory, DNS, OU Design and Delegation of Administration components for a central Government project at a high security level.
Assistant Tda, "Project T"
Assistant Technical Design Authority looking after Infrastructure for an EDRMS and Infrastructure solution for a Central Government area, codenamed “Project T” and including an upgrade to a Windows 2003 infrastructure, applications migration, EMC Documentum 5.3, high-grade messaging and 2-factor authentication.
Lead Architect, Dii/C (Mod)
In 2000, an integrated design team with Fujitsu, Microsoft and the government customer representatives was established in Wiltshire to produce the architecture for the customer’s system. Each subcomponent design team had one Fujitsu, Microsoft and customer (for technical assurance) member.I was selected to form a key part of this team and was the design lead for SMS v2, SharePoint Portal Server 2001/SharePoint Team Services, Filestore services and Printing. I also developed a VB.net application for user and filestore provisioning in rapid response to a solution gap,I continued to be intermittently involved with the architecture for a number of years past 2003 when requested. For example, I delivered designs for an extension and upgrade of the Public Key Infrastructure capability in 2005 and for a single sign on and smart card-based web authentication solution in 2006. I also delivered a design for a clamped-down Windows Terminal Services solution for application reach-in, and participated in a Microsoft-led solution for certificate-based external access solution using protocol transition.
Technical Designer, Csv8Open
Selected from the Integration team to become part of a small 3-man design team, for the then new “CSV8Open” solution, a highly successful Windows 2000-based solution for the MOD,
Integrator, Csv8, Chots And Cash
The C2IT Integration team integrated products from designs into a secure environment, for automated and manual distribution to the CHOtS and CASH systems. This experience is still proving valuable, informing me on what level of detail to pitch designs at real-world delivery and integration issues.During this time I also worked for several weeks on an overseas deployment, implementing a specialised solution.
It Manager
I was appointed on a fixed 2-month contract as an IT manager to manage their medium-sized NT and Unix-based IT Infrastructure, to recruit a permanent IT Manager, and to resolve several long-standing problems.
Backoffice Platforms And Service Desk Manager
AG Solutions was formed as a joint venture between British Gas plc and Amdahl UK and has since become part of Fujitsu Services. Working for British Gas plc at the time, I was approached to be technically responsible for all software aspects of implementing this new company’s IT infrastructure, and to establish processes. Working with initially just one other person, we designed, documented, budgeted, and implemented complete IT Infrastructure and processes within 3 months, and I then became Infrastructure Services Manager, managing the Service Support team, including Help Desk (3 staff), BackOffice services (1-2 staff) and Desktop rollout/support (1-2 staff).
Vme Consultant, Technical Support Group
Relocated to the Midlands to become part of a specialised team managing the communications and interfaces of what was then one of the world’s largest customer billing systems of 19 million customers. This ICL VME and VME/X system had to have seamless data interfaces with a number of different architectures, suppliers and other companies.
Senior Systems Programmer, Technical Support Group
Initially recruited to work as an ICL VME operator (remember EDS-200 disk drives!), successfully applied to become a Systems Programmer working as part of the HQ Technical Services team, specialising firstly in the ICL VME mainframe operating system, and then in mainframe OSI-based communications.
Computer Operator
I started my IT career as an ICL VME/George III and DEC computer operator for an insurance company in Croydon, London, working over a 24-hour shift pattern.
Branch Manager
Bit of a false start in Retail straight from leaving college, but happy days all the same and I learnt a lot. Started in New Malden and was quickly offered manager at the larger Worcester Park store. I don't *think* it had anything to do with me, but the company folded shortly afterwards and I had my first and only taste of redundancy. Although I did also work 3 days in a warehouse loading vans.
