My initial role at EMGS was to develop a strategy to move ElectroMagnetic (EM) exploration from a niche 2D technology to a mainstream 3D technology. After initiating a number of technology development programs and industry alliances, I took responsibility for the company's operations in the western hemisphere.As President of EMGS Americas, I had the privilege of leading a terrific team of operations specialists, geoscientists and sales professionals. We applied EM methods to help oil and gas companies find offshore oil and gas. We navigated the perils of the 2009 financial crisis, and went on to work with most of the major oil companies including ExxonMobil, Shell and several smaller independent oil companies. Our biggest success was a campaign targeting national oil companies. We closed and executed multiple contracts with PEMEX (ultimately exceeding $300M) and over $100M with Petrobras. Both programs lead to significant drilling successes in challenging areas such as the Perdido basin of the Gulf of Mexico and deep water areas offshore Brazil.

I held several positions with ION (It was called Input Output when was there.) including technology development, sales and marketing as well as working with investor relations. My time at ION included working on the first permanently installed 4C/4D system (1996), the BP Valhall monitoring project and the MEMS sensor based VectorSeis Ocean ocean bottom cable system. I took a couple of years off from ION in 1998-2000.

Continuum Resources was ahead of its time ... the company pioneered the use of web enabled multi-sensory virtual reality for multi site collaboration on complex projects. Delivered significant new technologies, but hardware costs got in the way of large scale adoption, ultimately leading to company failure - failure isn't fun, but it's a heck of a way to learn !

I founded QC Tools in 1989 to develop quality control and display software for 3D seismic surveys. The company grew to annual revenues of ~$5M without external investment, and was sold to Input Output (now ION) in 1994. The flagship product - CENSUS - was still in use over 20 years later ... How many software applications have that kind of longevity ?

I worked as an offshore seismic technician offshore in the North Sea, Brazil, Thailand, West Africa and Canada before settling in Dallas to develop better systems for exploration. In 1986, I moved to Houston to run the technical support group in the Gulf of Mexico, before finally turning to the dark side and getting involved in sales and marketing.
