About Dave Rochlin
Experienced executive, innovation leader, and social entrepreneur turned author and "pracademic." Passion for building teams that turn ideas into action, solving tough and ambiguous challenges, and developing others to do the same. I work at the intersection of innovation and responsible business, and encourage business model transformation that supports a better and more sustainable world. As a faculty member and the executive director of the Innovation, Creativity and Design Practice at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, I run one of the west coast's largest innovation agencies (faculty curated and MBA-student staffed) and develop and deliver design thinking and strategic foresight classes as well as to outside corporate executives and teams. I'm also faculty director for Berkeley's Innovation for Responsible and Sustainable Impact summer program in Geneva Switzerland, and teach additional sustainable and responsible business courses including "Tech for Good." The goal is to help firms enhance competitiveness and collaborate across boundaries, while preparing Berkeley grads to drive change responsibly.Outside of Haas, I'm active as a consultant, workshop designer/facilitator, and coach. I work with both Fortune 1000 companies (such as Levi's, Genentech, and Siemens) and leading NGOs, and coach executives and teams to collectively solve problems, work more collaboratively, and develop innovative solutions to issues of performance, growth, and sustainable business design. As a former CMO and COO with a background in technology, consumer products, and strategy consulting, I helped build, grow, and eventually sell pioneering ecommerce and ISP businesses to Hollywood Video and Earthlink, and placed companies on both the Deloitte 50 and INC 500 lists. After a pivot to social entrepreneurship, I became COO of the NGO FairTrade USA, an enabler of ethical supply chains. I later founded ClimatePath, a hybrid social venture which cultivates market-based models for CSR and conservation. I write and speak frequently on human centered design, innovation, and responsible business, and have published a textbook on technology and innovation strategy as well as award-winning business cases.
