In the capacity of Executive Vice President, I provide strategic leadership and direction to the sector of the company focusing on public sector clients with specific emphasis on municipal clients. I am responsible for the operations of the public sector business including the financial performance and staffing of the sector. Approximately half of the firm’s revenue is generated from the public sector. I have served on the Board of Directors and am a member of the Senior Management Team responsible for providing leadership to the firm and it’s shareholders.

This role involved developing, growing and overseeing the road design and linear infrastructure design sector of the company along with the development peer review group.

I joined Burnside in 1999 to help grow the Newmarket Office. Initially the main services I provided were subdivision development review and coordination services for local municipalities. The services expanded to providing design and project management services for municipal road and infrastructure reconstruction projects.

While in this role I was responsible for providing engineering review and comments and coordinating development projects from the draft plan approval stage to construction, assumption of municipal services and release of building permits. I developed a strong background in Development Engineering and Planning having provided engineering comments on Planning Applications (Draft Plans of Subdivisions, Zone Change Amendments, Official Plan Amendments and Committee of Adjustment Applications) on behalf of the City of Guelph Works Department.

In this role I provided detailed engineering design and contract administration services for new subdivisions and road and infrastructure reconstruction projects. All detailed design, tender preparation, contract administration and inspection services for new subdivisions and capital works projects were carried out “in house” by City Engineering Department Staff.
