Dave joined Crisis24 in 2019 bringing with him 32 years of law enforcement and corporate experience. Dave leads Crisis24's global investigations practice and the Americas pre-incident crisis and security consulting team responsible for the delivery of a range of security risk management, crisis management capability development, and travel management. Prior to joining Crisis24, Dave was the CSO for an international privately-owned energy company where he was responsible for intelligence-led risk mitigation strategies, the development and implementation of global security guidelines, procedures, and policies. He responded to a wide range of incidents and developed prevention strategies to reduce internal and external corporate exposure for financial, asset, operational, liability, regulatory, personal, and reputational risk. This followed a 27-year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), where he led employee misconduct and corruption investigations and was on the RCMP’s covert entry program leadership team, working closely with the five eyes intelligence community, pertaining to the exploitation of mechanical and electronic security barriers. Dave has expertise investigating serious criminal, financial (money laundering, frauds, Ponzi schemes, breach of trust, corruption of foreign officials) and internet/cyber facilitated crimes. Dave has been the lead investigator, working closely with forensic accountants, prosecution services, creditor legal representation, and market regulators regarding frauds involving publicly traded companies. In 2012 Dave was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for exemplary service leading a national internet-facilitated investigation into sexual exploitation of children. Dave fulfilled security and emergency preparedness, crisis response and resilience leadership roles in both the Incident Management (IMT) and Crisis Management Teams (CMT) during several high-profile catastrophic events that required decisive decision-making and strong leadership. Dave is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the ASIS – CSO Center, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) technical committee establishing security management standards for petroleum and natural gas industry systems.
