Led a transformation of the procurement and supply chain function in a decentralised and federated business structure. Responsible and accountable for setting the strategy and aligning the people, processes and systems to maximise benefit return to both the Rail Operating Company and the Balfour Beatty Group through the introduction of best practice strategic sourcing and integrated logistics management.In terms of cross-Group responsibility I was a member of the Procurement and Supply Chain Board. The Board has responsibility for driving the creation of a community of best practice and deciding the shape and direction of Group-wide strategic sourcing both current and future.

A member of the senior supply chain team, I had direct responsibility for the operational sourcing and procurement activities of the business and the continuos improvement of processes and systems relating to procurement and supply chain management. In terms of new technology I strategically reviewed, recommended and managed the implementation of solutions such as e-sourcing and e-procurement.

I had direct management and control responsibility for the procurement and supply chain activities across all the regional businesses of the company. I introduced best practice protocols, processes and procedures and restructured the supply chain across all commodity groups in order to maximise the value return to the business through third part spend. My remit included planning and logistics and the introduction of best country sourcing of numerous commodity groups.

Responsible for the procurement of materials and components for both civil and military aircraft engines, nuclear steam raising plant for the UK fleet of nuclear submarines and packaged gas turbine systems for naval surface vessels.
