I conceived, planned, built, and still operate the largest Disney dating site in the world, MouseMingle.com - the dating site for Disney fans. I oversaw expansion of the site when it went viral one day after launch, by working with partners to transition to AWS for scalability and to eventually reduce costs. I handle the organic marketing, supervise customer service contractors, respond to media requests and interviews, and I am always thinking and working to enhance the user experience. Of course, I am always working through problems, but the best part is getting to interact and interview couples who have met, gotten married, and even had children after meeting on the site.

What I love most about consulting is helping people move their projects forward. Sometimes it's as simple as building a website or resolving a technical problem, but whatever the problem, they bring me in to question, analyze, and suggest solutions that fit their skills, timeframe, and/or budget. I ask the questions, offer up options based on my experience, and plan the execution of their decisions. The result is to help them be more successful and efficient. I am a problem solver who doesn't like to waste time or money.

As the Main Street program director for a tiny town, there are numerous ways I've been able to bring the organization forward by using my technology, planning, and people skills. I report to the Board President, and work closely with the Directors, and with the several committee members, to execute the Community Master Plan (CMP), as well as the various events, projects, and short-term goals developed every month. By utilizing tools from my experience in software development, I've been able to streamline product and ticket sales, allow donors to connect with us online; I've developed email lists for donor, marketing, and merchant communications, as well as expanding social media outreach and interaction. Using common agile techniques like roadmap development, monthly planning meetings, and retrospectives, I've been able to collect and analyze data that has helped with volunteer coordination, donor and City relations, event planning, and project management. One of the best aspects of this position is working closely with the City of Marceline, the area Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Authority, and other community programs on various projects, while also engaging with residents and visitors to promote local merchants and organizations.

At Ocavu (formerly known as SeekXR) I came into a long-time startup that had almost no planning or organization in the engineering team. There was no roadmap, no release schedules, no story planning, and a lot of developers. I was able to coach the engineering team (and other groups in the company) into the start of an agile transformation. We began doing two weeks sprints, doing planning as a team, and committed to delivery goals. The result of teaching agile methods brought young developers and employees together to see what can be accomplished by working as a team, and planning the work.

When I came to Sony, I still had a waterfall mentality. I learned quickly about kaizen and agile, and learned as much as I could, as quickly as possible, to assist teams and projects with their planning and deliverables. These seasoned developers and business teams already knew how to plan and organize, but they needed data. Proof that the planning and story pointing was accurate and useful. I enjoyed facilitating retrospectives and working with the teams to make sure we kept doing what worked well, while also uncovering what needed improvement, and working together to come up with solutions. I worked on various projects at Sony, with everyone from individual developers to business teams in other cities.
