Along with a recent ARM Cortex M0+ project, lots of 8-bit microcontroller experience, mainly Motorola (Freescale) and Atmel. Ignition design requires the understanding & implementation of a variety of hardware & software capabilities, including mixed signal design, switching power supplies, high power semiconductors, EMI control, and fast, real-time software.Specialties: 8-bit microcontroller, flyback swiitching supplies, mixed-signal design, automotive environments, embedded systemsIf you want to see what kind of products I have designed, helped build, and support, go to www.malloryracing.com, select pretty much ANY electronic product, and I have either designed it, re-designed it for better performance or lower cost, or supported the design/test process.

I do the hardware & software design for all of the Mallory and ACCEL ignition systems & accessories, and I support these product lines and the Jacobs product line by providing production, testing, purchasing, and customer service support. The umbrella company is now called ACCEL Performance Group, formerly Prestolite Performance. In the past, we have been owned by Super Shops, Dana, Echlin, Mr. Gasket, and Prestolite Wire.
I have written a variety of tech articles about ignition system selection and operation, primarily for internal use. I have also written and had published several technical articles (dealing with electrical/ignition/charging systems) in "American Iron", a motorcycle magazine catering primarily to H-D motorcycle enthusiasts.
I was an assistant engineer in the design lab, where I designed & built custom test fixtures (including a cool 12-bit arbitrary waveform generator) for a variety of design projects. I also did the machine programming for a fairly complex ignition module test system (using BASIC on a TRS-80 clone, no less!).
I worked as a technician on the production floor, and briefly as an engineering tech. Lenkurt built a variety of FDM and digital phone equipment.
I primarily worked on shipboard radio, radar, sonar, and other electronic systems. Honorably discharged in 1973.
Mainly college algebra, trig, and calculus courses in the early 90's
I took an analog IC design course through the UC Berkeley Extension
