Hi everyone! Im currently Professor of The Digital Environment at the University of Manchester, and fellow of the Alan Turing National Institute for AI. It has been a journey that started from growing up as someone who was always interested in technology, exploring, science and then catapulting myself through a Physics degree back in 1998! Ive never looked back, and now enjoying seeing where the next road takes me as I explore more diverse science and emerging technology. My acdemic research moves me across the interface of atmospheric and data science, having developed models for use on high-performance computers and now integrating emerging machine learning and the broader data science ecosystem into my toolkit. I enjoy working across strategic planning and developing structures that enable new insights to be made. Locally, this includes helping steer investment in e-research facilities across multiple faculties, whilst also acting as deputy on new national facility investments across the UK research community with and for the public and private sector. Ive worked on projects with a for a number of local to national government departments.Im passionate about education, developing and delivering new content across the undergraduate and postgraduate sector, including management of new training programmes across University networks. I look forward to taking part in many new exciting diverse initiatives. Lets talk!
