Profile bio

About Dave Waknin

I began my studies in physics, driven by a desire to understand the fundamentals of how and why things behave the way they do. However, the abstract nature of physics led me to mechanical engineering, which I find more directly applicable to everyday life. I became captivated with engineering design because it is a display of creative expression backed by scientific principles. It is calculated and precise, but can be done in so many different ways. Out of university, my first venture was creating ergonomic high heel shoes for women, which evolved into a vegan product due to my commitment to environmental consciousness. Although I eventually moved on from this project, the experience solidified my passion for product design and sustainability (I have also been a vegetarian ever since). Professionally, I started as a product designer for an electric bus manufacturer, working on various systems, including critical safety components, and later led a project developing hybrid semi-trailer trucks for the forestry sector. I then transitioned into consulting for a company specializing in hybrid and electric commercial vehicles, blending technical work with business development and marketing. After consulting for several companies, I shifted my focus to business growth and strategy.Throughout my career, I have consistently expanded the scope of my role, driven by a desire to help and add value. I thrive on new challenges, learning new fields and wearing different hats; my motto is: “I can do it.” Both technical and interpersonal skills are important to me, and I value working in environments where people support each other and unite towards a common goal. Outside of work, I enjoy reading about psychology, behavioural economics, and personal improvement. Learning how people tick, and hopefully how I tick, is wildly insightful and rewarding.

Listed skills include Self Learning, Problem Solving, Engineering Design, Dedication, and 21 others.
