I'm a partner in PwC's Accounting Technical Department. My specialties: in depth IFRS / UK GAAP in all areas of accounting; with very deep experience in acquisition accounting, impairments and issues around revenue, share-based payment and pensions. I thoroughly enjoy delivering accounting training and do this for a number of audiences including Non-Executive Directors and, more broadly, through our nationwide Accounting Development Seminars. I've chaired Meet the Experts for the last six years focusing on practical, engaging content including introducing the Emperor Augustus, as the Accountants accountant, drawing parallels between Darth Vader and accounting and most recently springing IFRS Top Trumps on an unsuspecting world! I am a regular blogger on accounting matters.I've also worked in our Accounting Advisory practice and been previously heavily involved in a number of deals (across the world). I worked as an auditor in Birmingham and, slightly more glamorously perhaps, Lyon.I'm also a husband and father of four children (aged 18 to 25) which helps keep me grounded! I'm a school governor (Bromsgrove School) and a keen-ish runner (mostly up to half marathon distance so that I can still walk afterwards although I have run a couple of marathons) and long distance walker. So far, four of the 19 National Trails completed over the last few years. I climbed Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the PwCUK Foundation charities (UK Youth, The Samaritans, Wellbeing of Women and Beyond Food) in 2018.
