In my role as Programme Leader of Mechanical Engineering in the University of Chester's Faculty of Science and Engineering it was my responsibility to support the Head of Department in managing the day-to-day running of the two Mechanical Engineering degree programme. This included supporting the teaching staff and ensuring that resources were in place to enable effective teaching delivery. I was also on the programme development team which considered and implemented modifications to the Faculty of Science and Engineering's degree courses, providing students with exciting and up to date multi-disciplinary programmes.What is more, I conducted research in the field of laser surface treatment and adhesion with specific regard to biological applications. I was also a founding member of the Laser Engineering and Manufacturing Research Group within the Faculty of Science and Engineering based at the Thornton Science Park. At the University of Hull I studied Physics with lasers and photonics as an undergraduate. I then went on to obtain a distinction in my MSc in laser materials processing and micromachining.
