Director Of Engineering & Product OwnerI lead our the engineering organization and am accountable for ensuring team members have the proper skills and training, clarity in terms of what needs to be delivered, relative prioritization and overall productivity. Responsibilities include; reviewing and approving all Product designs, alignment of backlogs across teams, identifying/reviewing impediments to performance and working to resolve, coaching and mentoring to all team members, providing individual feedback on a regular basis, helping each individual overcome any challenges in their day to day work as well as their career.

Originally hired in 2011 as an Engineer and tasked with building a manufacturing data reporting infrastructure for the new Enterprise SSD division created at Smart Modular Technologies. With the goal of empowering users to flexibly interact with their data based on the problem at hand, I architected, developed and now manage a team working on a multi-tiered solution for data reporting. The fully configurable application has expanded over time, taking in new data sources across new products and multiple acquisitions, helping users to quickly derive value from their data. What started as a tool supporting manufacturing at an Enterprise SSD start up now supports a multibillion-dollar consumer and enterprise SSD business at WDC.• Our 4-person team rapidly delivers support for data reporting for engineering and manufacturing test across WD’s consumer and enterprise SSD products. This includes all web/client application development, data and object model definitions, database management, ETL, infrastructure and user support/training.• Manage the team's work with Kanban to keep WIP in control and deliverables happening at quick intervals.• Built and currently executing training plan for new college graduate hires.• Implemented automated performance tuning on the rapidly expanding database to ensure consistent performance for ad-hoc query execution.

• In addition to the architect and lead developer roles, I transitioned to leading the team of 3 people working on the tool set and database. Primary new responsibilities included backlog management and prioritization of work with stakeholders.• Trained and transitioned ETL work to a team in Bangalore India. • Designed a configurable data parsing application to parse existing test data sources into a consumable format for the newly created Redshift data warehouse.*Company change via Acquisition

• Expanded our data ingestion to include SanDisk's massive consumer SSD drive manufacturing test. Even with a completely different database design pattern we were able to use the existing configurable application to quickly expose this data to the new user base.• Rearchitected our single device dashboard to be quickly expandable for new and independent data sources with their own schema designs (consumer SSD, package level advanced development testing, manufacturing shop floor control data, etc.). • Created URL based API and command line interface to allow for reports to be modified, scheduled and run programmatically by users.• Focused on tool adoption within SanDisk and WD by visiting multiple sites, giving trainings and taking feedback.*Company change via Acquisition

• Continued expansion and improvement of the data reporting application from the previous position.• Expanded capabilities to include additional query building techniques and implemented additional output format options for specific business logic needs.• Transitioned off the existing database and application server to a newly built scalable redundant Enterprise MSSQL 2012 database with multiple VMs for application servers, resulting in increased capacity/uptime/performance. o Today this database is still in use, is over 30TB, and still performing at the same level. o Took advantage of MSSQL’s horizontal partitioning to massively help query performance across data sets with billions of rows.*Company change via Acquisition

• Created a simple, scalable data model and database schema (a modified Star schema in MSSQL) for complicated drive testing.• Managed all file movement and ETL from multiple newly implemented test systems.• Quickly created and released dashboard for single drive traceability so teams had independent access to data.• While working on a generic ad-hoc reporting infrastructure I acted as the lone data analyst pulling population based data from the new database for the product development teams. • Created a multi-tiered application with a common object model that allowed users, with no knowledge of SQL or the underlying database structure, to interact with a simple web based UI to build and execute complicated queries and then format the resulting data into a usable state.

● Support IBM and EMC Customer specific firmware. Work to resolve issues and implement features with a specific focus on the customers’ needs. Firmware is written in C and Perforce is used for version control.● Used various tools during firmware development and test including bus and code trace software and hardware. Also gained familiarity with SATA, SAS and FC drive interfaces while working on many different products offered by Seagate.

• Created an application that was used to easily configure and monitor a company wide data reporting tool. The application was written in Visual Basic using ASP.NET and Visual Studio. The reporting tool is used by the site to perform complicated data queries to determine possible issues with disk drive production.• Worked with the team on the next generation data reporter also using Visual Basic as well as Windows Services and Event Logging. The new reporter allows easier use for employees located at the other sites.

• Developed a script that automatically documented the verification code by creating an Excel document with detailed information about all the registers in each verification project. The script has been integrated into the verification process and has been proven helpful for debugging and maintaining the verification code. The script was coded in Perl and created in Linux.

• Constructed a dynamic webpage that served as the launching point for the Read Write Group, allowing very simple access to any applications necessary for employees in the group. The webpage was created using ASP. NET, Visual Studio and written in C# using Visual SourceSafe for version control.
