Currently studying for my PhD in Quantum Photonics at Cardiff University. Leaning Ansys Lumerical, LabVIEW, FIMMWAVE/FIMMPROP and Python in addition to expanding my knowledge of the wider semiconductor industry. My academic career so far has reinforced a deep appreciation for all areas of physics, where I have learnt to solve a range of complex problems. My integrated masters project entailed using Python to develop simulations of the galactic centre, determining whether star forming regions could be obscured by dense interstellar dust. This was a valuable opportunity to expand my Python abilities and taught me how to manage large datasets. My current work focusses on simulating, fabricating and characterising photonic integrated circuits. I have enjoyed the process of learning new specialised software and experimental techniques for this project, and look forward to learning more as I progress. In the meantime, I am looking to expand my network and connect with other physicists in related fields.
