I write and edit financial new stories. Cryptocurrency expert, especially Bitcoin. Have followed crypto since 2011. Also write about tech companies and how Washington policy affects business. More than just the news; at Money Morning the goal is to explain why something is happening and what readers can do about it. I often make predictions in my stories and am right more often than not. Other duties have included Web curation (headline writing, comment approval, selection of stories for the Money Morning home page) as well as copy editing and proofreading.

Responsible for all design aspects of an online-only magazine aimed at fans of thoroughbred horse racing.

I planned and designed daily sections of the newspaper. That included section fronts as well as inside pages. On any given night I might be assigned to the A-section, the metro section the sports section or the business section, but during most of my tenure I primarily designed the business section. Designing pages at The Sun required me to learn a series of customized computer pagination systems (SII, Harris, CCI) in addition to the use of standard commercial Mac and Windows software (Quark XPress, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word). As a designer I had both a Mac and a Windows PC on my desk and switched between them throughout the evening depending upon the task. Also, the job required extensive coordination with other parts of the newsroom and even other departments. I coordinated with section editors on placement of stories, consulted with photo editors on the selection of photos, and interacted with copy editors to fit stories and correct errors.

As News Editor, I designed all the pages for the two-section broadsheet publication, edited almost all the staff and wire stories, selected national and international stories sent from the Catholic News Service, wrote the headlines and captions and supervised the production one day a week at the Annapolis Capital plant.I worked as a reporter for several years before my promotion to News Editor. As a reporter, I researched and interviewed sources on such beats as Associated Catholic Charities and interfaith issues. I also wrote a weekly column on rock music, if you can imagine that.
