• Design, develop, and maintain complex mainframe (e.g. DB2 for z/OS,IMS) database systems while maintaining a reliable, accessible, and secure production database environment • Conduct analysis and design of complex logical and physical database structures including interpretation of detailed application requirements to facilitate the creation of the underlying database schema utilizing the latest Entity Relationship diagramming and Data Modeling techniques • Provide review, consultation, debugging, and performance and tuning of traditional database applications such as IMS, DB2, as well as multi-dimensional database systems as required • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of advanced or emerging technologies to facilitate improved productivity, performance, and maintenance for the database development environment. This will involve the implementation of practices and techniques for evolving application and database components across multiple test environments including Development, Model Office, and Quality Assurance database subsystems • Facilitate the design and implementation of policies, strategies, and procedures to assure absolute recoverability and security of corporate data resources. This will necessitate participation on the DBA Disaster Recovery team. • Provide technical direction with the implementation and maintenance of middleware database components including NEON, ODBC, and Sybase replication services

• Assist in the analysis and design of logical and physical data base structures including conceptual design, data modeling, and physical implementation• Consult with Application Development and Computing Division personnel on data base application performance, tuning, and debugging• Assist with the design and implementation of procedures to ensure recoverability of corporate data resources• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and administration of data base related software utilities and tools• Maintain multi-tier data base environments including object migrations between those tiers • Perform data base maintenance/tuning and monitor performance to ensure that response meets or exceeds expectations• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to the data base environment• Participates in Rotating on-call after hours support
