Leadership is provided to create resources that address student retention, overall academic success, and graduation rates. The grant is responsible for the purchase and implementation of early alert and data-driven interventions narrowly tailored to meet the needs of the diverse student population of the College.

Provide transformational leadership and guidance in relation to students and participates in decision making with regard to student issues in the School of Nursing. Work with the Dean, the leadership of the school, the Health Science Center, and with student services across the campus. Responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and support of academic and non-academic needs of prospective applicants and enrolled graduate and undergraduate students. Coordinates the publication of student related materials, develops student policies, and facilitates the activities of student organizations. Led the creation and signing of automatic admission articulation agreements with the University of Texas San Antonio and Texas A&M University. Designed and implemented a student success center to provide academic support and student development resources for all School of Nursing Students. Responsibilities include the oversight of all undergraduate enrollment management for the College – including probation, dismissals, recruitment, and graduation from the College’s four academic departments. Additional responsibilities include leading the College’s retention programs through collaboration with the Byrne Center for Student Success and by overseeing undergraduate advising, and serving as the Academic Operations Committee (AOC) Dean for the College. Serve as mediator for students with grievances and chair the College Curriculum Committee. This position is responsible for the implementation of the Action 2015 $800,000 reallocation activities for the College which include:Integration of service-learning opportunities into all undergraduate degree plansCreation of a freshman learning community experience that reaches all 500+ incoming freshman studentsDevelopment of an international and urban experience program that provides exposure to global experiences for all undergraduate students in the CollegeRevision of undergraduate advising procedures that include: online supplemental advising, intrusive and proactive advising for freshmen supported through the Byrne Student Success Center, peer mentoring activities, and online scheduling of appointments via Sundial software.Implementation of a process for documenting capstone experiences for undergraduate students which include student teaching, internships, and end of program seminar courses.

Responsibilities included the recruitment of under-represented populations for both freshman and transfer admission along with targeted recruitment of students for the “high-need” teaching fields of Math, Science, Special Education and Bilingual Education. Additional responsibilities included committee assignments, web management, publication design, and program development and supervision. Served as interim scholarship coordinator in 2009. Nearly doubled the undergraduate freshman admits-per-year of the college from 2000 (N=684) to 2006 (N=1,284).Nearly tripled Hispanic freshman admits to the college from 2001-2009.Nearly quadrupled African American freshman admits to the college from 2001-2009.Designed and maintained web recruitment presence: http://educate.tamu.edu.Supervised 2 staff recruiters and 1 Graduate Assistant.Annually spoke with over 2,300 prospective students and parents.
