This includes advancing strategies and programs for contractors and construction owners to achieve health and safety excellence and meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

• Founded in 2016 as an organization of contractors to support their individual and collective efforts to achieve excellence in workplace health and safety.• Established as an independent organization of 120 members with OGCA administrative support.• Established an agreement of goals, tactics, and secured funding with the government.

Under contract with IHSA developed and implemented plans to promote the implementation of the COR and HSEP programs in the construction industry. The focus was on building partnerships with construction owners, contractors and industry owners to continue to improve workplace health and safety.

• Established the government relations function for the organization that focuses on building partnerships with government, employers and other associations.• Developed organizational strategies on policy and communications including outreach to members of the legislature and targeted government officials.• Lead the strategic goal for members to achieve workplace safety excellence, including measuring members’ performance and recognizing excellence.• Established with the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association a strategy to improve member health and safety excellence through the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program.• Elected volunteer Chair of the Construction Employers Coalition. This includes construction associations operating collaboratively on WSIB and workplace safety.• Employer Chair of the WSIB’s Chairs Construction Advisory Committee. Liaison with the Chairs office to deal with issues and set meeting agendas.

• Reporting to the Board of Directors, managing a broad coalition with 37 member organizations. Coordinated and led the Council’s work with senior levels of government, identifying and responding to proposals for regulatory change. • Responsible for customer service and for developing and maintaining a high profile for the organization within the construction industry and government. Increased member satisfaction by 57% over three years. • Led the turnaround of the organization through a dual focused strategy of achieving targeted goals with the provincial government and through improved communications.• Established the Construction Advisory Council (CAC), recognizing a need to have a Minister of the Crown speak for the non-residential industry in Cabinet.

• Reported to the Chief of Prevention and responsible for the oversight and funding of 14 Health and Safety Associations (HSA) delivering training and prevention services to Ontario’s workplaces.• Led an effectiveness review of the HSA with an independent consulting company and the Provincial Auditor. Implemented recommendations that focused on administrative and performance standards for delivery organizations that received $72M in annual funding by the WSIB. • A new service delivery model was established and the number of originations reduced. Service delivery agreements established WSIB was receiving full value for its health and safety investment.• Developed and implemented a new program “Prevention in Operations” and provided tools to front line staff to deliver prevention services directly to employers. The program developed a consulting process by working with HSA to deliver practical tools for employers to improve their performance in health and safety.
