Managed development of Pearson's Mastering, a highly successful family of web-sites automating homework for college instructors and their students. Supported 2M registered students per year. Spanned 11 science disciplines including physics, chemistry, biology, and anatomy/physiology. Directed several development teams in all phases of new development including QA, and DevOps. Worked closely with PM to introduce agile including a user-story based release planning discipline. Achieved record breaking levels of up-time reliability and on-time delivery.

Joined Mathsoft to build a new UX for Mathcad by adding an intuitive, natural-math equation editor designed specifically for the aging ME, EE, and Civil Engineering users. Championed PM and dev teams through a challenging transition after PTC's acquisition of Mathsoft.Drove feature definition and development of the new UX. Introduced agile using a release driven, user-story process model. Coached XP related practices and incorporated a strict reliance on iterative, sprint-based development, continuous builds, dual-level integrated testing, pair programming and test-driven development.Shortly after the acquisition by PTC, assumed a director’s role and was acting VP of the dev teams for both the mainstream Mathcad product line as well as the new products. This included the product definition team, offshore teams (both dev and QA) in Israel and Shanghai, plus in-house dev and QA groups based in Massachusetts.

Straight Arrow Software Works, Hudson, NH — Developed ProximumSE, a recruiting tool for the allied health market. Used ZIP codes and geographical data to manage mailing lists and contact information based on proximity. Co-founder of Incentive Systems (acquired by Xactly, Inc) providing a client-server, variable compensation system which manages sales-force commissions and performance-based comp-plans. Prototyped the initial product, recruited key engineering talent, and managed the technical teams. Participated in strategic planning, product planning, recruitment of key executive positions, as well as cultivating initial sales opportunities. Critically involved in securing the first three rounds of VC funding, totaling $36.4M.Led the dev team in design of the initial product architecture and set the technical vision for the company. Drove design and implementation of various aspects of the product including the GUI front-end, C++ middleware, SQL stored procedures, XML data interchange, a C++ computation engine supporting retroactive recalculation, and report writer interfaces.
